Why Porter

Every shop runs on the same three inboxes: the phone, the email, the web form. Most of what lands there is simple, repetitive and urgent all at once, and it lands while you are under a sink. Porter sits behind all three and turns each one into a job that is booked, tracked and done.

How it works

From first ring to booked job.

Three steps, running in the background, all day. You only step in when something actually needs you.

It comes in

Calls, voicemails, emails, texts and form fills arrive the way they always have. Nothing changes for your customers.

  4. Tom

Yes, 4417 Shoal Creek. The fan outside spins but it's loud.

  5. Porter

Got it. Marcus can be there today between 4 and 6. The diagnostic is $89, credited to the repair. Does that work?

    Perfect, book it.

Rules and handoffs

You decide where Porter stops.

Porter never guesses on price or safety. Write the rules in plain words. When a conversation hits one, it lands in Needs you with a summary, and your phone buzzes once.

  • Quotes over your limit wait for your yes.
  • Gas, sparks and active leaks reach whoever is on call in under 10 seconds.
  • Callers who ask for you get a callback time, not a runaround.

Trades

It knows a slab leak
from a dripping tap.

Porter is trained on how plumbing, electrical and HVAC jobs actually get booked: what to ask, what is urgent, how long it takes and who should go.

A plumber kneels at an open kitchen sink cabinet tightening a pipe fitting with a wrench.

Plumbing

  • Asks where the water is and whether it is still running
  • Active leaks skip the queue
  • Water heaters booked with the right tank size in the notes
An electrician works at an open breaker panel in a tidy garage.

Electrical

  • Panel brand, amperage and photos before the quote
  • Sparks or burning smell go straight to on-call
  • EV chargers sized against the panel first
An HVAC technician kneels beside an outdoor air conditioner with gauges connected.

Heating and cooling

  • No-cool calls first when it is over 95°F
  • Unit age and brand captured for the tech
  • Maintenance plan members get the early slots
A homeowner opens her front door to a smiling technician holding a tool bag.

Your customers

  • A confirmed window, not "sometime Tuesday"
  • The tech's name and photo before the doorbell
  • A text when the truck is 15 minutes out

Questions

What shops ask before they forward the line.

hello@porter-office.comMon to Sat, usually within an hour
Do I need to change my phone number?

No. Forward your existing number to Porter, or let it ring your phone first and send only the unanswered calls through. Customers keep dialling the number on your truck.

Which tools does Porter work with?

Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, QuickBooks, Google Calendar, Outlook, Gmail and Slack today. Anything else can receive a webhook or a nightly CSV.

What happens when Porter is not sure?

It does not guess. It tells the customer when someone will call back, puts the conversation in Needs you with a two-line summary, and texts you once.

How do emergencies work?

Gas smells, sparking panels and active leaks skip everything. Porter gives the safety steps you approved, then transfers the call to whoever is on call this week, usually in under 10 seconds.

Will customers know they are talking to Porter?

Yes. Porter introduces itself as your shop's assistant. In early access, fewer than 2% of callers asked for a person, and those got one.

How long does setup take?

About 30 minutes. Connect your calendar and job software, set your service area and prices, type or record a greeting. Most shops forward their line the same afternoon.

Is my customer data safe?

Recordings and transcripts are encrypted, stored in the US and deleted on the schedule you set. Your calls are never used to train shared models.
